We are looking to grow our team within Group Safety, who’s purpose is to support a step change in business performance by developing processes, systems, and practices, including building organizational capability, to eliminate or effectively manage operational safety risks and exploit safety opportunities.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Principal Vehicle Safetyto consistently improve Anglo American’s safety profile relative to all vehicle types. The vehicle types include light vehicles, buses, on-highway trucks, surface mobile equipment and underground mobile equipment.

Core Responsibilities:

Exemplify a culture where safety and health are paramount and act as a role model
Assess vehicle safety controls and implement systems and practices to improve and maintain standards
Regularly consult with industry vehicle experts and thought leaders, monitor vehicle safety technology and industry developments, represent Anglo American in industry groups e.g. Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table (“EMESRT”) and identify and implement best practices
Develop and maintain up to date vehicle safety standards, bowties, guidelines and specifications
Develop and maintain up to date vehicle safety training material and training innovations
Integrate standard technology and regulatory requirements
Act as a subject matter expert in advising operations on correct implementation and application of standards and technology
Improve sustainability performance of the AA safety organisation over time.
Establish processes to build relationships with key stakeholders

Qualifications:

An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical engineering
Vehicle design experience
A postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical engineering
